Ο Βασίλης Γραμματικόπουλος υπήρξε Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, στη Σχολή Επιστημών Αγωγής, στο Παιδαγωγικό Τμήμα Προσχολικής Εκπαίδευσης, Senior Lecturer στο Teesside University του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, ενώ ήταν μεταδιδακτορικός συνεργάτης στο Liverpool Hope University του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, καθώς και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας, Τμήμα Εκπαιδευτικής και Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής.Έχει μεγάλη εμπειρία στη διαχείριση ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων καθώς έχει συντονίσει και συμμετάσχει σε πάνω από 20 χρηματοδοτούμενα προγράμματα συνολικού προϋπολογισμών πάνω από 6,5 εκ ευρώ. Έχει δημοσιεύσει έως σήμερα πάνω από30 ερευνητικά άρθρα σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά, ήταν εκλεγμένο μέλος του συμβουλίου της Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA, 2015-2018) και είναι μέλος της European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI).
